PEOPLE IN MY HOMETOWN
Anjongan is a sub-district in Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Anjongan District is a division of Sungai Pinyuh District. The people where I was born belong to various ethnicities and religions. The indigenous people are the Dayak and Melayu tribes. The other tribes are Jawa, Madura and Bugis. They live side by side and know each other in everyday life. The Anjongan people generally work as farmers, civil servants and soldiers. On Sundays, the Christian community performs worship in churches.
Recently, the Dayak Anjongan people held a ritual. which is usually called the "Nimang Padi Naik Dango Customary Ritual". In the dango ride, traditional ceremonies, tourism and cultural parties are held. Riding the dango is filled with art performances, traditional game competitions, regional art competitions, exhibitions, cultural seminars and folk markets. The community was very enthusiastic about seeing the dango ride. The ritual of riding dango is a legacy from our ancestors as a form of gratitude for the rice harvest.
